Welcome

to 1709 the brasserie.

Named after the birth date of the UK’s most famous Lichfeldian, Dr Samuel Johnson.

Set in a quintessential Lichfield mediaeval building full of creaky floors and timber framed walls this intimate bistro serves some of the best homemade food in the county. Although you won’t find eighteenth century chyne of mutton or snipes, such as in Johnson’s day, you will find a great menu at great value.
